General Specifications
- Material Grades: Titanium mesh uses Grade 1 (weaker) or Grade 2 (stronger) titanium (≥ 99% Ti). Both are non-magnetic and biocompatible; Grade 2 is preferred for added strength without losing corrosion resistance.
- Mesh Counts: Standard mesh counts range from coarse (10×10, 12×12) to ultra-fine (200×200 to 400×400). Special Dutch weaves (30-80 warp x up to 800 weft) are for very fine filtration.
- Wire-Diameter Range: Wire diameters vary by mesh: coarse (0.50-0.30 mm), process (0.28-0.18 mm), fine (0.15-0.05 mm). Dutch weaves often use 0.40 mm warp and 0.10 mm weft for flow and retention.
- Aperture (Opening) Size: Opening sizes range from 2.0-1.0 mm (coarse plain weave) to 10-5 µm (Dutch weave). Medium filtration is 900-150 µm, fine is 100-20 µm.
- Weave Patterns: Common weaves are plain (general strength), twill (tighter, more ductile), plain-Dutch (high flow, fine retention), and twill-Dutch (sub-10 µm, high pressure/precision).
- Roll Widths: Standard roll widths are 1.0 m, 1.22 m, and 1.5 m. Wider rolls (up to 2.0 m) can be custom-woven for large areas.
- Roll Lengths: Roll lengths depend on wire gauge: light (30 m), medium (15 m), heavy (5-10 m). Shorter rolls help with flatness during installation.
- Sheet / Panel Dimensions: Flat panels up to 2000 x 2000 mm are available, laser/water-jet cut to ± 0.1 mm. Thicker panels can be flattened for gasket making.
- Disc Diameters: Standard disc sizes are 10-100 mm; custom sizes (5-600 mm) are CNC-cut. Stacked discs are used in filters and extrusion.
- Thickness (Caliper) Tolerance: Plain weave thickness equals wire diameter (± 2%). Compacted/sintered laminates have ± 0.05 mm tolerance for precise fitting.
- Open-Area Percentage: Open area ranges from high (78% for 10×10) to low (18-32% for Dutch weaves). Mesh count and wire diameter affect this.
- Specific Weight (surface density): Weight varies by mesh and wire: e.g., 10×10 (0.50 mm wire) ≈ 3.5 kg/m², 100×100 (0.10 mm wire) ≈ 0.45 kg/m².
- Maximum Service Temperature: Titanium mesh can handle 315 °C in air (short peaks to 400 °C) and over 500 °C in inert/vacuum conditions.
- Corrosion Resistance (pH range): Titanium is passive in pH 1-13, resists seawater, chlorides, nitric and organic acids, making it good for electrochemical and medical uses.
- Standards & Certifications: Titanium wire and mesh meet ASTM B348, ASTM F880/ISO 9044, and can be supplied with ISO 9001, DFARS, ROHS, and REACH compliance.
